I drove leisurely around the island one afternoon just to clear my mind.
Passing the 7-11 in Ka'a'awa, a truck loaded with a Hawaiian family sitting in the back sped past me. For a brief second, I glance at everyone in the truck bed. Such a beautiful Hawaiian family enjoying an afternoon ride. They took that turn, going down toward Kahana Bay. They were going too fast, and the truck hit the guard rail and flipped over. Everyone, and everything in the truck bed went flying, including the dogs and the children. They more than likely had no time to think or react. At that moment, I prayed that the sand or water cushioned their fall. It didn't happen that way. It was a horrible scene. I stayed as one of the witnesses and gave my statement. Then, I completed the remainder of my long drive, looking for the next person that takes me over before I flick a finger and disaster strikes.
