The most deadly is when the pond is crystal clear because it lulls people into a false sense of security.
It strikes boldly, almost as if it wants people to know what it can do. Predators conceal themselves and wait for the perfect moment to act; this thing puts on a show. A deadly show, but a show nonetheless. One wonders why people frequent this place at all, given its history. Case and point, in 1996, a group of boys cut out from a nearby school and went to go swim in the nearby pond. The four stood at the precipice of the falls above and could see clearly to the bottom of the pond. The oldest of the four jumped in first. As soon as he went beneath the calm waters and surfaced, waving at the other three to jump in, a massive dark shape shot up from the bottom of the pond, practically out of nowhere, and with both its giant hands wrapped around the boys head, it pulled him down and consumed him whole. Blood and other remains of their friend's body surfaced to the top, but that was all. Anything recognizably human was gone. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it's always when the water in the pond is crystal clear. You know where it is because it is surrounded by thousands of buried bodies, if not more. Can you say cool heights?
