100 Ghost Stories Counting Down To Halloween 2017! #19

THE DAY

"Did the catering company get everything correct?"

"Yes mom, they're already out in the front setting the food up for the reception."

"Make sure that they're careful with those burners, the last time a catering company was not careful an entire house burned down with the wedding party still in it, they all died in that fire. It was very tragic."

"It's ok mom, the food is outside on the lawn which is near the water, in case a fire breaks out we can throw everything in the ocean,"

"Don't make fun of my concerns Howard, you know very well how these things turn out. Just like that movie where everyone who was supposed to have died end up surviving and death himself starts to pick them off one by one."

"That's a movie mom, that stuff doesn't happen in real life, people get shot by a lone gunman who takes out the entire crowd, not by the angel of death."

"And Violet, your bride to be, does she have any old boyfriends that she hasn't gotten over? You know how those things happen right? The last thing you need is for some old flame to resurface a few years from now, looking to reignite a fire that was supposed to have been pealed out a long time ago."

"Mom, I have spoken to all of Violet's old boyfriends already,"

"You have?"

"Yes, she gave me her old black book and I spoke to every single one from A to Z. It took a couple of months but I got to them all and killed every single one."

"Why do you insist on making fun of everything I say? Here I am trying to make sure that you have a beautiful and happy life and all you can do is make jokes, do I annoy you that much? Is that how you see me as your mother? Just some fly that keeps buzzing around until you swat me and smash me like I'm useless?"

"No mom, it's just that these concerns are irrelevant at the moment, I'm about to get married and I'm nervous enough as it is and you're putting emotional ketchup on my burger and not just in one big glob but packet by packet. It's not helping mom, I love you and there's no need to worry, everything is going to be fine alright?"

"I'm sorry Howard, but I'm your mother and it's my job to worry but I don't mean to make you agitated, can you forgive me?"

"There's nothing to forgive, you're my mom and I love you okay?"

"I love you too, just make sure that you're in-laws treat you well. Remember that Violet is your wife and you're not marrying her family. Especially when you and Violet have children, you can't let your in-laws interfere with your parenting."

"I'll remember that mom, now please go have a seat, we're about to get started."

.............

Violet couldn't help but notice that Howard seemed to be talking to someone that wasn't there. It was their wedding day and according to tradition, the groom is not allowed to see the bride before the actual ceremony, so she sent him a text.

VioletCandy:

"You okay? Who are you talking to?"

Howardaduk:

"Just talking to my mom,"

VioletCandy:

"Awwww babes, I'm sure she's watching over you, and she's very happy for us."

Howardaduk:

"Knowing her she's doing more than watching LOL

VioletCandy:

" I love you, see you in a few!"

Howardaduk:

"See you out there! Love you!"

.............

Miriam La'anui raised her son Howard all on her own but she passed away right after he graduated high school but she never left his side. Now, on the day of his wedding finally getting married at thirty-two years old, she made certain that she was there to assure that everything was perfect.
